Positions that we offer include:

Group Leaders

You are ultimately responsible for the group.  In addition to the above roles and responsibilities, Group Leaders are responsible for:

·        Check the medical register and inform other adults in your group and specialists where it may affect a child’s ability to undertake specific activities.

·        Checking the timetable for clashes and knowing where to go

·        Allocating breaks between the adults, ensuring that only one person is on a break at a time

·        Communicating with parents and the beginning or end of the day

·        It is a legal responsibility that a morning (9.30am) and afternoon (1.30pm) register is completed and returned to the office.  Head counts need to be completed at the start and end of each activity 

Group Monitors

Your role is to support the group leader in establishing and maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience for the children. 

Early Bird / Late Leaver Supervisors

You are responsible for children of all ages for the hour before camp (8-9am) and the hour after (5-6pm).  In addition to the above roles and responsibilities, EB & LL Supervisors are responsible for:

·        Ensuring parents sign their children in or out and note the time

·        Welcome children and offer them a choice of activities

·        Check register for any medical concerns, in particular allergies

·        Offer children a selection of breakfast or snack options (refer to hygiene requirements listed in the kitchen)

·        One member of staff to station themselves by the door and monitor children going to the bathroom

Early Years Specialists

Early Years specialists work with children aged 3-5. 

You will be required to:

·        Have an in depth understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stages Framework and how this can be applied to Laser Camp.

·        Use professionalism to adapt activities and routines to the needs of children in your group

·        Provide Snacks and refreshments in the afternoon (available from the office)

Specialists (running in-house activities e.g. martial arts)

Specialists are employed directly by Laser need to follow the responsibilities set out above. 

Specialists need to:

·         Set up the activity so that it is an appropriate task for the age group you are expecting

·        Allocate group leaders and monitors to specific tasks to support the activity

·        Allow sufficient time for children and leaders to pack away and ensure the room is left tidy and ready for the next groups activity

·        When not leading an activity you may be required to join a group

Specialists (external businesses who invoice Laser e.g. climbing instructors)

Where specialists work for Laser to carry out a specific task, and invoice us for those sessions.  We request that:

·        Specialists are to be set up and ready to deliver their activity at the agreed time

·        Any specialist equipment is safe and fit-for-purpose

·        Set up the activity so that it is an appropriate task for the age group you are expecting

·        Allocate group leaders and monitors to specific tasks to support the activity

·        Allow sufficient time for children and leaders to pack away and ensure the room is left tidy and ready for the next groups activity

·        Check with group leader for any information that may affect a child’s ability to complete the activity

Lifeguards

Lifeguards need to:

·        Have up to date training

·        Ensure that there are always two lifeguards on duty at all times

·        Follow the instructions/guidance from the Exeter School Pool Manager

·        Direct Group Leaders and Monitors to ensure the rules of the poolside are followed

·        Ensure that the pool area and changing rooms are left clean and tidy within reason (Laser pay for specific pool cleaning at the end of the day)

·        When not on poolside you may be expected to fulfil other duties, at the direction of the manager

Swimming Instructor / Tennis Coach

Instructors and coaches need to:

·        Create a schedule for children to attend their sessions (to include name, time and age), give to the office to photocopy and add to groups registers

·        Provide tuition to small groups (max two for quads) within NGB regulation, at an appropriate level.

Office Admin Assistant

The Laser office can be very busy.  Tasks can include, but are not limited to:

·        Collating and chasing registers (am and pm)

·        Phone home to verify any absentees (and make a note on the system)

·        Ensure each group has a copy of ‘Laser Extras’ schedules (for AM registers)

·        Ensure each group has a copy of early pick-ups (for pm registers)

 

Once succuessful, you will recieve an induction and be trained in the relevant areas.

You will be required to have a DBS check. If you have the update service then we accept that when supported by references. If you are currently in employment and working under DBS E.g. a school, then we will accept that after contacting your current employer and they have confirmed. 

We can run a DBS check for you at your expense of £58 (this is an online process through a 3rd party. We do not add any charge or make any profit from this figure.) We then recommend that you sign up to the update service once you have successfully completed the process.
